I'm actually kind of excited to be a part of this. I'm not sure what I'm going to contribute by way of content, and the other folks who are contributing--well, let's just say, I'm not worthy to lick their lollipops, but I'm gonna try!
One thing KOB, owner of DC Blogs, is looking for from us is to expand the D.C. blogging universe beyond the city and its inside/outside the Beltway environs. One of our goals is to feature bloggers and writers from communities outside of our immediate metro area. So, if you read this blog and you live somewhere other than Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, or most of Maryland, and you think there's a blogger in your neck of the woods I should check out, drop me a comment. I read a number of blogs outside the D.C. area already, but I haven't dug around beyond the blogs I read to see what else is out there. (That will be changing quickly, though.)
For example, I read the writings of one or two bloggers each who live in Switzerland, the U.K., Australia, Japan, Austria, California, Oregon, Montana, Utah, Colorado, Pennsylvania, New York, and Wisconsin. If you live in one of those countries/states and there's a blogger in your area or in a neighboring country/state you think is noteworthy, let me know.
Of course, a lot of this endeavor is experimental. We're not sure where it will go, but we're adventurous and willing to give it a good college try, as they say.
As for my first contributed topic, I'm drawing blanks, but taking suggestions.... The floor is open....

I was suffering in DC today. Stuck on the beltway. ForEVER... I thought of you!!
You were in DC today?! Phooey. We have to get together the next time you're down this way. The Beltway sucks, by the way.
Maybe I'll make that my first topic: how I started blogging to bitch about D.C., especially the traffic, and ended up not.
By the way--I might be in your neck of the woods in a couple of weekends. Email me and we'll chat.
I only wish I knew other bloggers in MT. Don't.
SML: Check out this site. I'm told by one of the contributors to DC Blogs (Throwing Hammers) that this is the site for the blogging/writing/reporting community in the Montana area. I've haven't played around in it much, but maybe there are connections to be made...
