Lincoln

Sunrise

Anyone who knows me, knows my favorite monument in all of Washington, D.C., is the Lincoln Memorial. This morning, I was up early trying to get a good, foggy picture of Foggy Bottom for a friend, but I was unsuccessful. So instead I headed up the hill and over to this monument to America's 16th president, Abraham Lincoln. The sun was just coming up, which afforded me a number of good shots.

To see more pictures of this temple to Lincoln, go here.

great pictures, the sun is so golden on the marble. I would love to see the rest of the pictures you have a great eye.

Cele: I just posted them to D.C. Confidential. Click on the "go here" in this entry and see more!

And come on out one day. I'll show you around!

I can vouch for Tewkes as a DC tour guide--awesome.

Oh man, I love this picture. You're an artist, Tewkes.
D.C. is on my list of places to see before I die. I'll visit probably after Current Occupant moves out of the white house, though. I just couldn't feel patriotic around that man -- even with Lincoln's statue looming larger than life next to me.

ME: Thanks for the compliment. I try to be a good hostess. I have fond memories of you visiting me in D.C., especially the tromp l'oeil exhibit we went to. That rocked!

Phoebe: You're welcome anytime. Don't let W keep you from visiting. He's an idiot and we all know it, but we mostly just ignore him. He's the neighbor we all love to hate.

Liz: Thank you! It turned out better than I expected. Not bad for a digital camera anyway.

That photo is art. Love it. Sell it as a postcard. Yeah.

I should add a "Buy this Photo" feature to my blog. Of course, that would require buying a high quality printer. Hm... I think I'll put that on my Christmas wish list.

Tewkes, in the meantime, you could put the photos on a flash drive and print them at Walgreens or somewhere with photo self-service. Until Christmas when Santa brings you a photo printer. :)

Why are you not taking pictures for a living?

ME: I'm starting to think my next round of postcards to friends will be pictures I've taken. Given the equipment I'm working with--a Canon PowerShot A630--I'm amazed at the results. Plus, it helps that I have iPhoto for cropping...

I think I'll run out to Ritz Camera tomorrow and see what kind of print making services they provide...
