Giving Tally: Post-Date

I don't run postdated blog entries for obvious reasons, but this is an exception. I'll update this specific entry daily to reflect folks who have participated in the Holiday Party Meme Charity Event.

To date, the following folks have posted a challenge from the meme on their blogs:

12.20.07

I received one final submission last night from JulieAnn Henneman over at Ravings of a Mad Woman. She chose to write a holiday poem in alliteration about a guest desired who fails to show up and the heartbreak that ensues. It's enough to make the lovelorn weep. Thanks, Julie! And another $5 in the collection.

12.18.07

I wrote an alliterative piece for this year. I think last year's was much better, but this one was fun, too. Makes no sense, but it was fun...

And, new-found blogger Angie at Touch of the Phoenix, also wrote an alliterative story about her attendance at a party. I'll throw in $5 in her name, too!

There's still time to participate in the Holiday Party Meme Charity Event. If I've missed your entry, leave a comment here and I'll be sure to add you to the list of contributors. I'll check in with WhyMommy on Wednesday and find out what charity she's chosen to receive our gift....

Again, thank you to everyone who has played along. xoxo

P.S. I'm changing the rules again. Your participation, if I've added correctly just on my blog alone, has brought in $110 in contributions. I'll contribute that amount, plus any other contributions-in-the-form-of-blogs that come in by midnight tonight.

12.17.07

Over at Alice's Adventures Underground, blogging pal NG provides three responses to the Holiday Party Meme Charity Event as she "takes money from the unemployed." Her participation garners $15 and includes a classic joke from the Vicar of Dibley, a message to the town council about lights on the house, and a party description in alliteration. Read them all here. They're great! Thanks, NG!

Gina at Arizona Mama's Musings, participated in the Two Things Challenge: Hold/Value this week and here is her photographic contribution. I'll add $5 to the collection for her and a thank you!

12.16.07

Diane Clancy, a graphic artist and collager (I think that's what they call it?), has contributed this piece to the Two Things Challenge and, by default, to the Holiday Party Meme Charity Event. Thanks, Diane!

And a thank you to Great Grannie for her collage of a mother and child. It's a perfect capture of the Two Things Challenge and apropos to the effort we're making here.

12.15.07

Good morning! I just uploaded my photos for the Two Things Challenge to my photography blog. You can see them here. Of course, since I'm running this challenge I can't really count myself in this. Then again, my challenge, my rules. I'll throw in another $5 and round out the final total to $100 + $5.

There's still time to contribute to this challenge. See the Holiday Party Meme to participate. And my thanks to those who have contributed to date! Also, my thanks to Debi Cates who is matching contributions from those who participate in Two Things Challenge this week as part of the Holiday Party Meme (see the link above.)

12.14.07

My friend, Di, stepped in today with her insights into Dawn French's breasts, what she would write in Christmas lights, and how her holiday party went down alliteratively speaking. To read her contribution, read the comments. And that's $15.00 in the pot for Di!

And I'm throwing in $5 for Cele, the Left Coast's rockin'-est D.J. because she's providing Phoebe with marbles and a slingshot to send a message to Mr. Parks about how selfish and thoughtless it is not to snowblow an 85-year old neighbor's sidewalk.

Over at Two Things Challenge, Lisa Sarsfield has completed her interpretation of value and hold. Heavenly Body provides her perspective here. Meanwhile, Life in the Sunshine provides this perspective on what she's holds of value. This evening, Debi Cates added her two things and gave us this--a story of enduring friendship.

And I just went out today and took my pictures for the Two Things Challenge, which I'll be posting tomorrow morning both here and on D.C. Confidential. Later this weekend, if I can get it together, I'll try my hand at the Second Annual Attempt at All Alliteration.

If you want to play along, remember I'll contribute $5/blogger (up to $100) to WhyMommy's charity of choice.

OMT
, by my friend, Phoebe. Her's is a private blog, so I won't link it here. But I will run what she wrote, because it totally cracked me up.
If I could spell out anything on the outside of my house with Christmas lights so all the neighbors could read it, I'd write:

"Mr. Parks: You're a jackass. Next time you use your snowblower on your sidewalk and you stop at Mrs. Winestein's property line (she's 85 years old for godsake), I'm gonna break your windows. Merry Christmas"

Total contributions to date: $115.00 + $55.00 *

* Equals the sum of Blog Participants + Two Things Challenge Match

You go Phoebe, I'll send you marbles and a slingshot for the windows.

You know I so want to do this, but I am drawing a total blank. Thank heavens there is a deadline.

Cele: I'll throw in five for you just for having the desire to do this. And you can make the deadline whatever you'd like it to be!

You know, my creativity has all gone out the window. Along with my faith in humanity. Yet, I still want to give to your good cause.

Can I just PayPal you some money?

Alternatively...

Dawn French told me she stuffs her bra and that Lenny Henry is really Ruby Wax in drag.

My xmas lights say Frohe Festage und Glucklich Kaese to you, ya anal uptight bastiges!

And my party? Alot of alcohol for an anxious array of angry workers waiting for words of wisdom and wodges of winnings for their tireless toiling for tyrants.

Di: Excellent! I'll add $5 in your name, too! (And if you'd like to contribute more personally, let me get back to you on that PayPal thing. I'm pretty sure I have an account. I've just got to dig out the information.)

Love your alliteration, lights, and insights into Dawn French's amazing breastesses!

Um, technically I did three of your memes, so that should be $15, right?

Be glad you're not paying me by the word. That might've been as much as $6.79.

I'll be updating 2 Things with the other entries submitted to the challenge as well. J, be prepared to update your tally ;)

Di: Excellent point! Since I didn't clarify that, then you're right. I'll update accordingly!

Debi: I'll check out Two Things and update per that, too!

j.m. tewkesbury, you are a generous, as are Dawn French's breasts lol

Bev said...

Sorry, a typo. I was going to say soul, but this does not apply to Dawn French's embonpoint, which is hardly immaterial.

Thankyou for not only your charitable generosity but also for including updates to our posts on your site:) Very kind!

Bev: It would seem that, given the charity we might end up giving to, Dawn French's boobies are a fabulous discussion here! It's quite fun, isn't it?

Lisa: My pleasure! And thank you for contributing your photos to this week's Two Things Challenge.
