Where the Neon Signs Are Pretty...

The AMC Majestic 20 in Silver Spring, MD. Dig the traffic lights!
And with all this neon, can't you just hear Petula Clark singing "Downtown"?

Over in another part of the blogosphere, I have a site where I post pictures of sites and scenes in and around Washington, D.C., which will be relevant in a moment. Not too far from where I live is the Maryland city of Silver Spring. Living where I live now, I do most of my shopping in Silver Spring because it's convenient and it's silly to drive out to Virginia to go to Target. I haven't taken any pictures of Silver Spring, though, because there's already a blogger out there who photographs this middle class suburb and I don't want to trespass.

That said, though, I have always wanted to take a few pictures in downtown Silver Spring. I was out the other evening to pick up a gift for a friend at Borders Books & Music and I took my camera along. This is a picture of the AMC Majestic 20 theater on the corner of Ellsworth and Fenton. I love the colorful neon at play. But what I especially love about this photo is, I managed to capture the light changing from green to yellow, while the opposing light was red! Granted, it was a timed exposure, so it's not inconceivable. In this case, though, it was certainly unplanned and ended up being a delightful treat.

Happy (Photo) Friday! And Happy Leap Year!

Sickness update: My doctor managed to squeeze me in yesterday. The magic words were: "I've been running a fever of 101 degrees for the last three days." That'll get you in lickety-spit! Anyway--she gave me a script for an antibiotic and some cough syrup with codeine. Here's the kicker: On the cough syrup, the label says, I can get nine--that's right: NINE--refills! What the hell?! Anyway--hopefully this will start to kick this crap in the ass and I can get my energy and life back.

I'd be willing to buy a couple of refills off you. I love that codeine cough syrup!

Great pic of the Majestic!

I have a killer cough that won't go away, and I'm on my third ear infection this year. Ugh.

No cough syrup for me, but the doctor finally gave me antibiotics. I'm going to the ENT next week to see if my hearing has been affected.

That picture is pretty damn cool.

Feel better soon! Have fun with all that codeine.

NG: Ha! I could start a new business. (Or not.) Honestly, why would they give me so many refills? That just seems like a recipe for abuse and/or illicit distribution.

Di: Bummer about the ear infections. Those are totally no fun. Here's hoping your ears are well.

LG: At the rate I'm going, I just might.

Jess: Having Fun With Codeine. Isn't that a children's book or something? :-)

Thank you all for the compliments on the picture of the Majestic.

I'll take one of those refills. I luh-uh-uh-uuhh-vva the codeine. I have no problems with codeine. Life is good. Life is very, very good.

Hey wait...ng beat me again? And we both like the same stuff??? Oh man. What happened years ago!

(I'll be there on Tuesday to find out.)

Indeed!

I love Chestal, which you could probably find a Whole Foods. It tastes like honey and really works -- well, for a moderate cough. Maybe it wouldn't be enough for your ubercough.
