Let's get away from the McCain-Palin rants for a bit, shall we? (But only for a moment.)
On Friday, September 26, the first of several debates between the candidates will air and by October 1, there will be a little more than 30 days before Americans go to the polls and declare their choice for president and vice president of the United States. As we have seen in the last two elections, every vote counts.
I'm declaring October 1 Volunteer for Obama Day here at Tewkesbury Place. I'll be volunteering in Obama's campaign office in Northern Virginia on that day and I'd like to ask you, my readers from across the country and around the world, to join me by volunteering at your local Obama office that day. If you don't know where that is, here are links to Obama offices and/or campaign events in your state.
* Alaska * Alabama * Arizona * Arkansas * California * Colorado * Connecticut * Delaware * District of Columbia * Florida * Guam * Georgia * Hawai'i * Idaho * Illinois * Indiana * Iowa * Kansas * Kentucky * Louisiana * Maine * Maryland * Massachusetts * Michigan * Minnesota * Mississippi * Missouri * Montana * Nebraska * Nevada * New Hampshire * New Jersey * New Mexico * New York * North Carolina * North Dakota * Ohio * Oklahoma * Oregon * Pennsylvania * Puerto Rico * Rhode Island * South Carolina * South Dakota * Tennessee * Texas * Utah * Vermont * Virginia * Virgin Islands * Washington * West Virginia * Wisconsin * Wyoming *
And for those of you living overseas, there are opportunities for Obama supporters regardless of nationality in Australia, Canada, France, Switzerland, and the U.K. Also check out Americans Abroad for Obama.
Join me on October 1 and let's make a difference. And if you can't volunteer, please consider making a donation to Obama for Change. For as little as $25 you can make a big difference in this crucial race.
If you do choose to be a part of Volunteer for Obama Day here at Tewkesbury Place, please email me and let me know about your experience. On Friday, I'll post a round-up of volunteers and their experiences. You can email me here. Same goes for those who can't get to an Obama office, but can make a contribution. Let me know and I'll list your name along with everyone else.
Let's make our voices heard. Let's make our votes count!
Thanks!

you go girl! I hope you drum up plenty of volunteers. I'd like to spend oct 1 at the local obama campaign office, but I have something already scheduled for that day. however, I am volunteering registering voters one day a week (with the hopes that they all go out and vote for the O man)
thanks!
go obama!
Great Scott, you're inspiring. I've deleted a lot of MoveOn dot org pleas for money, but you've just given me something appealling to do.
THANKS!!!

Kimy: Yeah you! On Wednesday next week, post a comment letting us know what your favorite part of volunteering is. Perhaps it will inspire others to do the same.
Phoebe: Glad I could be an inspiration!
