Qualified?

From fellow blogger Kim, a poll by NOW/PBS that asks whether Sarah Palin is qualified to be vice president. It's a simple yes/no/not sure radial button. You just select and vote.

Check it out.

Last night I caught myself saying Palin isn't qualified. But the only three qualifications for president -- and we all assume Palin would become president because McCain is old and his health is questionable -- are:

You have to be a natural-born US Citizen (a citizen from birth - but not necessarily born in the USA, which is a common misconception).

You have to be at least 35 years of age.

You have to have resided in the US for the last 14 years.

The question should be rephrased, because by these standards, even my moronic neighbors could be president. Hell, even I could be president.

The question should be, given that our country is on the brink of financial depression, world condemnation, environmental disaster and military impotence, is Palin the one with the brains, experience and honesty in government that we need to pull us out?

My vote: no

Cele: Isn't it, though?

Anon: (Phoebe, I presume?) Based on the criteria you've highlighted and as outlined in the Constitution, my poll response should have been a resounding "YES!"

However, I'm using the same criteria you're using: Is Palin the one with the brains, experience, and honesty in government to pull us out of what ails us? For that, I join you with a noise-barrier shattering "NO!!"
