Today's Tewkesbury Roundup

Hope most of you enjoyed a restful, long weekend. Back to business here at Tewkesbury Place.

To start us off today, all I can say to this is, "Oh, no he di'n't." But, in fact, he did. Leading up to tonight's debate, John McCain told supporters in Pennsylvania he is going to "whip" Obama's "you-know-what." I'm sorry. Did McCain--a white man--use the word "whip" in a sentence about how he was going to handle his debate with Obama--a black man?! Wow. Talk about incredibly bad word choice. Don't believe me? Read it here.

Fred Haitt of the Washington Post imagines what the campaign might have looked and sounded like if Mr. McCain had stuck to his proclaimed values fair play and decency in political gamesmanship. Alas, he has not and we are poorer for it. Here is What McCain Hasn't Tried.

Meanwhile, Sarah Palin's involvement in the firing of her state trooper brother-in-law may be small beans in the world of political intrigue and scandal, but she and her husband, Todd, only made matters worse by repeatedly and inappropriately pressing the issue. It begs the question, if she was vice president (and very possible president. One in five rise to the office as a result of untimely death by disease, ill health, or assassination), what kind of personal vendettas would she exact in that office? The Washington Post editorializes in Alaska's Family Feud.

And speaking of Ms. Palin, seems Tina Fey is "well on her way to ruining Sarah Palin's political career," reports Alaska blogger Mudflats. If so, someone should award Fey the Nobel Peace Prize or something. Here is Tina Fey Leaving the Planet?

I think that's all I can bear to pass along today. Three articles from the Washington Post isn't exactly well-rounded, but the truth is, I'm running out of steam. I'm ready to vote today and be done with this drawn out, ugly process we call democracy. (At least, that's how I feel today. Tomorrow is, to quote Scarlett O'Hara, another day. No doubt, I'll feel differently tomorrow.)

What bothers me most about the Troopergate thing is that it was more about Todd Palin throwing his weight around - AND SHE LET HIM. This is a leader? I love my husband, but it would be "STAY OUT OF MY JOB".

FII: I agree. If she allows him that much latitude in the governor's mansion and offices, what would she allow if she becomes veep? Too scary for words...

I hear there is a Sara Palin bilboard out in Fairfax. I want to paintbomb it. Have you heard of this sign?

Scenic: I haven't heard that, but wouldn't be surprised. I'll have to ask my sister the next time I talk to her. She lives in Fairfax.

My former crush on Tina has been seriously injured by this whole Sarah impersonation bit. But, I still love Tina! She could be my president any day.

Maya: This too shall pass! ;-) The election will end and you'll have your Tina back sans Sarah.
