A Meme in Five Parts: Act III

This week's installment of "A Meme in Five Parts." In Act Three, we find our intrepid subject pondering the deeper ponderables of life to be pondered and asking this question: Who names the colors of the crayons in a box of Crayolas?

21. Who do you expect to do this first?
See #20 in Act II.

22. Pepsi or Coke?
Neither. Dr. Pepper or ice cold water. Or, on a really hot day, ice cold Lemonade Gatorade.

23. Beavers or Ducks?
Is this a trick question? If it isn't, then neither. I'm partial to penguins.

24. Morning or Nite Owl?
Night owl, from day one.

25. Pedicure or Manicure?
Pedicure, all the way.

26. Any new and exciting news you'd like to share?
Nothing new. Still working on that, though. Unless you consider telling someone you won't go to church with them exciting, that's about all the new news I have.

27. What did you want to be when you were little?
Astronaut, Marine Biologist (and I grew up in the desert, 800 miles from the nearest ocean; go figure…), Doctor, Architect. As I haven't grown up, I'm now leaning toward Florist or Mortician.

28. What is your best childhood memory?
Only one? Phffft. Being Tinker Bell in the school play when I was six, then going to Disneyland on vacation with my family. The bumblebee jackets me mother made for me and my sister out of yellow, white, and brown striped terry cloth. Spending two weeks in Wyoming with my grandparents and having my grandmother teach me how to paint and fire porcelain. The cherry tree in the backyard of the house I grew up in. The box from the refrigerator that we wore out using as a fort, a ship, a castle, a race car.... Christmases and Halloweens and Thanksgivings and birthdays. I have lots of good childhood memories.

29. Ever been to Africa ?
Never have. I’d like to, though.

30. Been in a car accident?
Oh yeah. Couple of years ago at the intersection of Rhode Island and 15th Streets. It wasn’t pretty. Fortunately, I walked away uninjured (thank God for Ralph Nader and his insistence on airbags and seat belts), but my poor little Honda Civic—which I had just finished paying off three months previously—was a total loss. I’m still sad about that.

There you have it! Stayed tuned for Act IV next week, when Jay can be heard to ask Bee, "Why is that Dirty Bastard Cat never around when there's a spider in my path?!"

And, as an added bonus for today's meme, a picture.

I absolutely love your list. And your childhood memories fabulous. It seems more and more people don't have wonderful childhood memories. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Oh I think you like beaver, Tewks. Wink!

(Sorry to drag this into PG13 territory)

Cele: Thank you! I'm enjoying this meme! I don't remember a lot of things from my childhood, but I did have a happy one, I know that.

AV: Oy vey. That said.... I suppose, if I lived in Oregon, I'd have to choose between one or the other....

Yeah, I was going to say, did an Oregonian send you the meme? Because of course I knew immediately what the question was aimed at (I've never been partial to either, since no one in my family has gone to college in-state; my best friend from high school went to OSU, though).

And Adriana, you are a bad girl. Must be why I like you so much!

You told the 'rents you didn't want to go to church with them, Jay? Bet that went over well!

JA: Yeah. Like a lead balloon. It's actually a little more complicated than that, but suffice it to say--once again--I misinterpreted their intentions, so now I've hurt their feelings. Not because I declined but because I stated that I felt a lack of respect for my ability as an adult to make conscientious, responsible, adult decisions.

I shoulda just kept my response to a simple "No, thank you." When am I gonna learn??

Yes, J, you must be very careful not to hurt your parents' feelings.

Lord.

Sorry. I'm still cranky (or worse) even if you're not.

Adriana made me laugh. Naughty girl.

There's a PostSecret that I hope is yours today. It should be anyhow.

I'm carrying a grudge. I don't usually, so this one is Bad.

Di: Don't worry. I'm cranky, too. We can be cranky together, if you like.

I know which PostSecret you're talking about. I copied and saved that one. It's easily one I could have written and sent in (but didn't.)

Family. Ugh.

You know, I also wanted to be a florist. Even now, when I'm having a bad day at work, I dream about arranging pretty flowers. I've taken a few non-credit floral arrangements classes even. When you open your shop, I'm gonna come work for you...

Lisey's Mom: You're hired! I actually need a flower arranger...

Yea, good answers. Though I think on favourite beverage I'm going to get you hooked on sloe gin and tonics rather than lemonade gatorade. Who needs salt replacement drinks when you can have liver atrophying drinks? I'm whipping up a bottle of sloe gin even as I post this, in wait for your possible trip abroad.

Aitch: Between you and Ms. Swizzies, I'll be a drunken sot in no time!

That said, I know I'm a totally dull (read: non) drinker. I don't know why I don't change that. I guess I've seen enough work colleagues sh*t-faced that I enjoy sobriety. In work situations, I figure if I stay sober, that means I have plenty of stories to remember and tell the next day! (And boy, do I have some stories.)

I'm not one for sh*t-facedness. It's not a pretty sight, even in the presence of one's own friends. However, a nice relaxed atmosphere with a few cocktails in one's system makes for the loosening of vocal cords and thoughts and good conversation. Might you be up for that? I think we could whip you up something that approximates the taste of some gatorade bevvie.

Aitch: Given the state of affairs in my job of late, I could be very easily persuaded to imbibe.
