Rijks

I have a friend in the L.A. area who is a rocket scientist--literally. I guess he was in Amsterdam at a conference last week, because he sent along this postcard of In the Month of July by Paul Joseph Constantin Gabriel at the Rijksmuseum.

A beautiful card. When I went to England we flew over Greenland. All I could see was brown, snow, and a lone windmill in the middle of nowhere. To this day, that is what I think of when I see a windmill.

The only windmills I've ever seen up close are in Golden Gate Park and Solvang, California. Not the same, I'm sure, as seeing them in their "nature" settings.

Your picture of a windwill sounds lovely...
