Lonestar
I received this postcard week's ago from my friend, Adriana, who recently visited the Great State of Texas for her grandmother's birthday. She sent this postcard my way and I love it. Armadillos are the strangest lookin' little critters, ain't they? According to the postcard, armadillos migrated "from South America through Mexico to Texas." The card actually says they "immigrated" which sounds awfully specious to me. Are they here legally and will armadillos feature prominently in the immigration debate this election season?
And now I'm just being silly, so I'll go away. But thanks for the card Adriana, Lane, and Jasper!

Surprised!
A friend of mine in the UK is a nanny for a lovely little tyke who just turned two in December. It was also her birthday that month. I was a little slow on the uptake, sadly, but finally got a gift off to her before the New Year. I also included a little something for her chargee.
One of my favorite stores is a place here in town called Pulp. It's down on 14th and S Streets NW next to Home Rule and Garden District. Pulp has a delightful children's section and I found a lovely gameboard-paper book for the little 'un that featured the art of Henri Rousseau. My friend is a huge fan of art and often takes her guy to the museums in her city.
Last Friday, the above postcard arrived from the two-year old. It features Rousseau's painting Tiger in a Tropical Storm (Surprised!) which they had just seen and which also featured in the aforementioned book I sent.
Thanks, Aitch and Emm, for the lovely postcard and note!

Beantown
A friend was just in Boston on business and sent this postcard. I've been to Beantown on business, too, and it is one cool city. As I look for jobs around the country, this is the only East Coast city I'd even consider outside of Savannah, Georgia. Boston has history, culture, intellect and it's on the water, which is always a draw for me!
Thanks, A for the damn postcard!
If you have a postcard you want to send my way, email me and I'll give you my address. Love me a postcard.

Beauty

I think this is the fourth postcard from Cele and concludes her series. Is that right, Cele? If you've never visited Oregon, consider adding it to the list of places you want to see before you die. It is magnificent.
To see the other three postcards Cele sent, go here, here, and here. Or, just click on the tag "Postcards" and you can see them all that way, too.

OREGON
Here's the third postcard of, supposedly, four that have come (or are coming) to my house from Cele out in Oregon. This one is reminiscent of those old postcards with similar lettering and illustrations.
If I don't land in San Francisco for my next job, I hope I land in Portland, because it is one fabulous town and Oregon is a beautiful state! Thanks again, Cele!
Just a reminder: if you'd like to send a postcard this way, email me and I'll give you my address. If you've mailed me a postcard in the past (or will be mailing one in the future) and you'd like one back, include your address on the back of your postcard and I'll be happy to reciprocate!

Emerald
Liz, the fabulous author of Quiet in the Stacks, is in Ireland on vacation. She emailed me several weeks ago, asking for my address. The result of that disclosure is this fabulous postcard from the Emerald Isle. One of these days, I'm going to get there.
Among other things Liz penned on the back, she wrote, "Say hi to Blogland for me." So, to all of you out there in Blogland, Liz says "Hi."
Thanks for the card, Liz. And may your travels be bounteous.

Left Coast
Thinks, Cele! And keep 'em coming!
And stay tuned to this space for pictures from my quick trip to Lexington, Virginia and my leisurely drive along Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah Valley and the Blue Ridge Parkway. For now, though, I'm going to bed.

Inauguration
Yesterday's blog entry was just the introduction. The Circumstance before the Pomp. Today's blog entry is the inauguration, because it features none other than a postcard!
This card came to me by way of my dear friend, Aitch Em in the Ewe Kay. Said friend recently spent a week relaxing in Cornwall and sent along this little bit for my growing collection.
According to the caption on the back of said card, this is a mên-an-tol. This particular one can be found on the moors of West Penwith and dates from 4,000 years ago. Legend has it that passing through the stone will cure ills and infertility.
I wonder if it will take away the woes of duplicitous people in my life, too?
Thanks, Aitch!
P.S. If you'd like to send a postcard my way or receive one from me, email me. You'll find my address in my profile.
