Have I mentioned recently that I've been waylaid with the flu? Yeah, I have, haven't I?
Well, I've finally been feeling loads better and yesterday evening I had a spurt of energy that resulted in the following activities: cooked dinner; vacuumed the carpets on the main floor; sorted through three weeks worth of mail and catalogs; collapsed five jillion boxes (I'm not exaggerating there) and carried them down to the recycling bin; and emptied the garbage.
Around 11:30 last night, I crawled into bed and woke up this morning feeling somewhat rested and tackled the kitchen, which included a load of dishes. Then I cleaned the bathroom upstairs, dealt with the guy from Verizon who came to fix some phone issues we've been having, had a shower, and toodled off to Target and Safeway for a few items of need. On the way home from Target, I thought, "I deserve a little treat. I think I'll stop at 7-11 and snag a Slurpee," which is exactly what I did.
Two hours later, I'm home and I feel like crap.
My head aches and I just feel wiped out.
I think maybe I overestimated my wellness.
And I was all ready to start going to the rec center tomorrow to start swimming. Think I'll be putting that off for another day or two. Bleh.
I'm not a fan of flu shots, but after this year's bout of the flu, I'm thinking I'll never go without one again.

Oh no! That sucks. I was going to get my first-ever flu shot this year but I missed my free appointment at work because I got stuck in a meeting and they refused to reschedule, and then I just wound up never going. So, next year it is.
Feel better soon!
Wow. Next time you get a burst of energy, can you come to my house?
Jess: Seriously sucks! Definitely getting a flu shot next year.
NG: The next time I get a burst of energy like this, I'm ignoring it and going back to bed!
Bummer to have all that energy and productiveness land you back in bed! Hope you feel better again soon.
The last time I caught the flu I was just flattened. The then-BF had it at the same time. We'd look at each other, groan, roll over and go back to sleep for another 10 hours.
ME: Totally sucks. I've been so low energy, I haven't even had the oomph to answer the phone. I'm hoping I feel better by Tuesday, though, because I have an appointment with a career counselor that day.
I suspect the Slurpee. That rush of sugar and corn syrup and chemicals induced a near-insulin coma (and headache).
Just a theory.
Di: I thought the same thing. I should have had a bunch of celery instead.
No -- that's a true-blue flu. It does that -- the symptomes come back just when you think you've better.
It is a sign you're near the end, though.

Phoebe: Praise the Lord, 'cause I am seriously so over this already! I didn't do a damn thing today, except load Harry Potter onto iTunes, for fear I'd end up feeling like crap again. Gag. Enough already!
