Manhole in Green

Manhole in Green

I can't remember what type of tree produces this double seed pod (I use to know the scientific names of many trees and could identify them by their leaves, bark, and seeds), but as a kid I loved these. When they're larger, we'd pull them apart and break open the pod, then stick them to our noses like we were Pinocchios.

Happy (Photo) Friday!

Oh mi gosh the green is amazing. I was staring at it trying to find the manhole. Ha ha thank god it wasn't a snake. I love this picture.

Wow! Gorgeous!

We would and still do play "helicopter" with the pods; throw them up in the air and watch them spin to the ground.

I know, I am easily amused.....

Have a great weekend one and all!

Cele: I liked the green, too! And no snakes here. Bee hates snakes.

Wicked: I should get out and play helicopter and Pinocchio again. I could use some easy amusement...

Phoebe: Purpt, purpt, purpt... (That's the sound a helicopter makes, just in case you were wondering. At least, it does if you squint your eyes and tilt your head.)

They are maple samaras (that's Acer) :o) Very pretty picture, as usual.

Mme. Meow: Of course! A maple. Well, that's embarrassing. I was so focused on photographing what was on the ground, I failed to look up. Had I done so, I'd have seen the distinctive leaves of the maple. Sheesh. Somedays I do things that leave me wondering if I'm dumber than a box of rocks. Without question, I was a few pebbles short of a full box of rocks with this post.
