I think the days of moderate temperatures and blue skies are a thing of the past. Spring is over (even though we haven't yet arrived at the official end of spring: June 21) and summer, in all its hell-hath-no-fury-like-a-woman-scorned* heat and humidity, is upon us.
A few days ago, while the temperatures were still in the 70s inching into the 80s, I took these pictures out on Roosevelt Island. I love going out there and seeing Lenin Roosevelt. It is probably the funkiest statue in all of Washington's collection of statuary, monuments, memorials, and bronze and marble tributes to dead guys. If you haven't been over to Roosevelt Island, you must go.** Decent trails to hike, some good bird watching, and Lenin Roosevelt.
Pretend you're at the eye doctor looking a charts through that contraption
to test sharpness and clarity. Which do you like better? The left one? Or the right one?
Left or right? Left....? Or right....?

Today's pictures are obviously not of Lenin Roosevelt, but of other... stuff. The first is rather obvious, right? The last two are shots of Georgetown University and Key Bridge from the island. Question is, which of the two do you like better?
In other photography related news, I just bought a macro/wide-angle lens, telephoto lens, and filters for my camera. Life is about to be more fun! Oh, and I've started playing the piano again. Boy, is that painful. I haven't played in over 20 years, but I'm determined to be very good at it. Or die trying.
Happy (Photo) Friday, everyone!
* I know, I know. Bad use of Shakespeare. So shoot me. Or sue me. Whatever. It's hot and humid and just plain yuck, dammit!
** Or, visit my photo blog on next Friday and see pictures of Lenin Roosevelt.
P.S. What's up with Google/Blogger's auto-posting feature? This entry was scheduled to post at 9:00 AM EDT and I've just had to go in and manually post it? Waddup?! I'm just about over Blogger as a blog engine/provider.
P.P.S. Still no word from Heather. Hm.

Both are good but I prefer the one on the right because it looks like a brighter day--bluer sky (how appropriate to your title) + bluer water = happier me.
I like the one on the right because of the spectrum of blue in the sky. I love how it changes from the bottom to the top. I'm so j of your new lenses; I too shall get those, but I gotta get that paycheck first.
We still have chilly weather here. It's so strange - and kind of annoying - to be cold on June 6th.
Maybe Heather waits until you donate to correspond?
Lacochran: I'm partial to the blue sky one, too. The one on the left with the water is too drab. Thanks for weighing in.
LG: I'm just amazed by the pictures I'm able to produce with my wee little Canon A630. That said though, it has a very limited focal length, which I know will eventually prove tiresome.
OKay a whole week until Lenin Roosevelt? Who's Lenin Roosevelt?
Heat? We could use a little heat, it hasn't gotten over 60 all week and it's been windy and rainy like it's October already.
Cele: You'll just have to wait and see! :-)
I'd be happy to send some of this heat your way. You can have it. It's 1:45 and the temperature is 95*. It's suppose to get up to 97* before the day is out, but I wouldn't be surprised and it goes over 100*. Yuck.
Gosh I'm sorry. It's very nice here in Ojai. Warm days and cool nights. No. I wouldn't rub it in. Not at all. I'm not that kind of person.
Lucy: Ack. I'm dying over here. Send some of that cool air this way! Glad you're enjoying Ojai. That's a beautiful area.
