When Bloggers Meet...

I love when bloggers meet. Some of the coolest, smartest, funnest people I've met in the last 10 years or so have been a result of some kind of interweb interaction. Back when I was in grad school, it was an email list that eventually resulted in the creation of the Scary Feminists from Hell--the finest group of women and friends a girl could ever ask for.

Since diving into the world of blogging, I've gone to a few blogger meet-ups, but none as superior as the one I attended on Friday evening. Some of the folks I met, I've been reading for a while. Others are new to me, but we were all brought together by the fabulous Lacochran. She assembled a fine group of D.C.-area bloggers and a grand time was had by all. If you're looking for new, excellent reading material, please read these blogs (I promise, you won't be disappointed.)

The Gilahi Blog

Live It, Love It
The Restaurant Refugee**
Sean's Ramblings
Urban Bohemian
(That's Why) The Lady Is a Tramp
Who Invented Roses

Nice meeting everyone! Let's get together again soon.

* Whom I've met previously at another blogger meet-up. (And this time we found out we have a mutual connection: Madame Meow's mother and I went to the same graduate school!) Great seeing you again, Madame!

** Turns out RR lives in my neighborhood! Or rather, I live in his.

It was so great to finally meet you (and everybody else). I do hope that we have an opportunity to get together again soon.

Scary Feminists from Hell? That's a group I want to join! It was great to meet you and thanks for the lovely compliment. You completely made my day!

I'm so glad you made it! It's a bit magical when you meet people that you've only had a narrow slice of so far. Pretty cool!

Gilahi: I concur! And, yes, let's definitely plan something soon.

Katherine: We are a rockin' group of women, let me tell ya! (In my links, look for a group titled "Scary Feminists".) We may end up having a mini-Scary Fems get together in January (five of the nine of us will be in town.) If we do, I'll let you know and perhaps we can line up drinks or something.

Lacochran: I'm glad I did, too! I finished my last domestic paper company profile an hour before, so it was a double treat: meeting new, cool people and taking a well-deserved break after an arduous project. Now it's back to the grindstone and writing profiles about international paper companies. Oh joy!

I had such a great time, and it was so nice to put faces with urls and to discover the new ones I hadn't known before. Let's do it again soon.

Abgue: Not sure, but hopefully in the near future. If not for some family related event, most definitely as part of a road trip on the way back to the West Coast. But whenever I do land back in the Beehive State, you will be one of the first to know!

Lilu: I always enjoy that, too! Now, when I read people's blogs, I have faces, expressions, mannerisms, and voices to go with the words. It's fabulous! And yes, let's definitely plan to do this again soon!

That is fun, isn't it. I've met one of Live,Love,Laugh that lives right here in Mesa. I've been over there; she's been over here.

Lucy: Meeting bloggers is the best. I still count meeting you and Alice as one of my favorite blogger meet ups ever. Love you two! Too bad you're so far away... But, it's fun to have the occasional lunch with Alice and the Caterpillar.

Be sure to let me know if you go through Utah. I have connections there too.

I could head up the Wannabe Scary Feminists from Heck committee there.

Phoebe: If we're smart, we'll drive through Denver and then you won't even have to set foot in Utah! Or, if it's family related, I'll just book a flight with a layover at DEN. Either way, whichever, I'll let you know!

Utah could use a branch of the SFFH! Our dear ME is there, all by herself and could probably use some Scary love.

One of these days, I'm going to go to one of these blogger meetups. I was thinking about going to this one and then got all shy and talked myself out of it. WIMP!

J.M. Tewkesbury said...

CH: Great meeting you, too! And duly noted.

Cele: You'll just have to come to the next one! ;-)

Cyndy: Darn! I'm sorry you missed this one. We all had a lovely time. I'm sure we'll have another one soon.

Have you SFFHers not been cc'ing me again? I know of no January meet up...?

Then again, my memory sucks.

I had to comment again just to say that the verification word is "gracker." I don't know, it just made me giggle.

Di: The January get-together hasn't been firmed up. ME is going to be in town for a Sunstone regional symposium. Sylvia and I are here, so that's three of us. If Adriana and Cherie can work it out to come down here, that will be five of us. All the other Scaries are welcome to join in the fun.

As to what the fun will be, we've only gotten as far as saying, "Gee. Maybe we should get together." :-)

Dude! Where was I?

Oh, that's right... I live in the suburbs, and can no longer be considered cool.

Oh, the mortification.

J.M. Tewkesbury said...

Gunfighter: Someone else planned this one. But the next time we have you, you are SO on the guest list. And speaking of blogger meet-ups, when's the next Gunfighter-organized happy hour? I still want to come to one of those.
