Yeah, Baby!

Granted, this editorial animated cartoon is from Nov. 5, 2008, but I think today it's equally as apropos!

And if you want some good reading, go here and read what my buddy, Gunfighter, has to say to those in his past and any in the future who tell him he's a sell out to his people because he chose to use good grammar and standard English.

Yesterday, Mr. Obama was at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and then at Calvin Coolidge H.S. as part of his day of service. Both of these are mere blocks from my home. We went out to see the president's (how cool is it that we can say that now?!) motorcade and the atmosphere was electric! For the first time in a long time, this city is pumped!

Finally, if you want to see some nice photos of events going on over the last few days and today, visit fellow photoblogger Juxtaexposed. And, in a bit of shameless self-promotion, check out my blog, too. (Although, I haven't posted nearly as many pictures as Juxta. As prolific as I can be with my camera, I've been overwhelmed by the emotion and excitement of the last few days and can't adequately capture the feeling. This is one of those moments in history where you have to see it and feel it to believe it.)

I have been so waiting for a post from you on the excitement leading up to the inauguration. Stupid me I didn't think to look at your other blog. Thank you.

HAPPY DANCE!!!!

Lucky you! I was pleased, and surprised, that most, if not all, of my officemates in this very conservative state gathered in an office to watch the Oath of Office and speech on a small TV. And there were some definite tears, and cheers, during the whole thing.

I felt like I was going to burst. I realize all I did was give the man some money, when it all boils down to it, and displayed a bumper sticker, but I still felt an odd sense of accomplishment. Yes We Did.

Couldn't agree more. I think regardless of your political persuasions, today was just a cool day!

Ditto to what Cele said.

I will spend more time with the links you provided later.

Just wanted to join my enthusiasm and giant sense of relief with most of the rest of the country.

P.S. I wore my Obama T-shirt with my corporate whore pin-striped business suit yesterday. People smiled at me all day long.

Cele: Yeah, this poor blog is neglected again. If it was a child, I'd be in jail for neglect. Thankfully, it isn't. As for my other blog, glad you enjoyed it!

FII: Wow. Glad to hear people were warm and appreciative. I think, aside from the staunchest conservatives, most people in America are tired and scared about the future. For most of us, our tears are tears of relief that we finally have a president who wants to work with us and not against us (how ironic is that, that I'd use a favorite Bushism to describe the effect of Obama?) I really hope he can change "politics as usual" in this town. If he can't, though, I hope we'll be astute enough to not blame it on him and lay the blame at the feet of Congress. (Which, in truth, is where most of the problem lies most of the time. But that's for another blog post entirely.)

Brian: Yes. Yes it was!

Phoebe: Love your choice of work attire! LOVE IT! Not only would I have smiled at you, I probably would have hugged you and chanted "Yes We Can! Yes We Did! Yes We Will! O-bam-a, O-bam-a, O-bam-a!"

Wicked: AMEN!
